Past. Present. Future.
These have all been on my mind lately.
As you all know, I turned the big 21 Sunday. (gasp!)
This made me think:
Where has time gone?
Seriously. Five minutes ago I was in high school, and ten minutes ago i was in diapers!
I feel like I have blinked and a whole semester has flown by!
(I have to keep reminding myself I still have Final exams to complete.)
But really? 21.
That just makes me feel so old!
I know its not old, in matter of fact, old is just a state of mind.
I think its because I expected to be somewhere completely different at 21.
Crazy me thought I would be married with a nice sedan and 4 bedroom house.
At 21!
ha ha... oh how I was naive. I think I forgot how long college can take and costs!
Anyways, to feel more accomplished or even just sentimental,
I am posting a few memories from my 21 years on this planet, mainly my life.
I know, you are so excited right!? (sarcasm)
but hey, this is my birthday post and I'll write it if i want to!
p.s. I love my readers :)
all twelve of them!
Okay gird your loins and hold onto your horses!
Blast to the past!
Jessica Anne
Born December 5
age: 0-11 months
This consisted of a premature birth and sitting under a lap to prevent jaundice.
I probably looked like a chicken.
age:1
realized i was the third child.
(this is a guess, but man, you should have seen how my siblings handled me!)
age: 5
My Italian-American Mom walks me to my first day of school in her wooden clogs.
I remember these clogs vividly. She always wore them!
(Think red, and early 90's!)
They would always clack! clack! clack!
or.. umm.. clog clog clog??
age: 8
Baptized! What a great day!
In my diary I wrote something to this effect:
"I am excited! I feel like a frog in my white jump suit. I'm all jumpy!"
age:9
Third grade?
I had the BEST teacher.
Mr. Brunsetter, or Brunstetter.
something like that.
We called him Mr. B.
He laughed at my earliest self-made joke.
Want to hear it?
great!
For some reason our classroom had a model of the human jaw.
One day, a boy in the class dropped it.
What did little me say?
"I guess he ate a JawBreaker!"
zing!
Mr. B gave me a high-five. :)
age:11
5th grade.
loved it.
I had Mr. Humphreys, got 100% on the math CRT's (a test), and learned how to use "I" statements. Apparently 5th grade girls need to learn how to get along.
I also won the State Capital Challenge in my class and was given a milkshake!
age 12:
Worried about Jr. high, that's where my big brother went, not me!
Took a close 2nd place in my school's geography bee.
Pretty excited because the spelling bee was a bitter experience.
I got out on the word license. Really.
The funny thing is, I never mess it up now!
I also now like spelling.
age 13:
Dance company. Publicity chairman.
age 14:
Cheerleader. Loved the uniform, hated the drama!
9th grade girls are power hungry. I guess.
I also swore to never like a boy again.
age 15:
Tried out for my life long goal of making the drill/dance team.
Made it!
I seriously kept having nightmares that I wouldn't
but when I did, I can't even describe the happiness I felt.
Better than Disneyland!
Moral of the flashback: achieve your goals, it feels tremendous!
Tore my ACL (a ligament) right in half.
Had surgery, and attempted rehabilitation. Cried... a lot.
age:16
First date.
Fell in love with Temple Square.
Now every Winter I wish a boy would take me there, hold my hand, and sip hot cocoa with me.
It hasn't happened again.
However, I still go with my friends every year. Beautiful!
age: 17
Fell head over heels for a boy I thought I loved.
Said goodbye to boy for 2 years, hoping for "to be continued.." when he came home.
Joined Dance Company along with Drill Team.
Struggled with my knee but...
Danced my heart out!

(Thats me front right.)
age:18
Nominated for Homecoming royalty, made top six.
Nominated for Senior Prom Queen, made top six.
Lost both times! Ha ha
Dance Sterling Scholar runner up.
Took 1st place at Drill Down competition. Amazing feeling!
Got my own medal!
Was Drill Mistress, meaning I choreographed dances for the team.
Graduated with 3 areas of distinction: English, Academics, and Dance.
Missed that boy terribly.
age 19:
Went to my first choice school.
Moved out, ended up missing home terribly!
Made some great friends!

Tried to pick a major...
Tried out for dance company; got rejected.
Got a 3.9 my first semester.
Then, got really sad, really homesick, really lonely.
age: 20
Sophomore in college; discovered my love for photography.
Tried to put myself "out there." Failed.
Boy came home.
Found out boy wasn't who I thought he was.
Super disappointed.
Vowed to never love again.
age 20 1/2:
Got accepted to art program!
Got job at newspaper!
Went back to Italy!!!!!
Made a wish in a fountain so one day I will go back.
Secretly drooled over Italian boys.
age 21:
My story is far from over.
While love has still evaded me,
I know it will come someday.
For now, I embrace my family and friends whole heartedly.

As you can see, life comes with ups and downs.
I have learned you cannot predict what will happen.
Planning is good,
but sometimes it is best to just let things happen on their own.
I can't wait to see where life takes me!
And hopefully, this Wednesday it will be the DMV!
(That part about turning 21 sucks!)
Love you all! If you made it through this post, you are officially awesome. :)
Jess.
